Visit a country of exceptional beauty : Halong Bay has been dubbed the 8th Wonder of the World, a mystical labyrinth of monolithic stones. The breathtaking mountains of Indochina are still home to many highland ethnic minorities. Hue's easy charm belies her importance as a guardian of imperial traditions dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. The forests of the Central Highlands echo the music of its inhabitants' traditional way of life. In the Mekong Delta, water blends into sky and daily life follows the rhythm of the legendary river.

Vietnam's population is a patchwork of 54 ethnic groups : one of the most complex ethno-linguistic diversities in Asia. Many of the 54 minorities can be traced to mountain tribes from Thailand, Laos and China, living mainly in the highlands and mountains of the North. They are immensely proud of their traditions and remain faithful to an age-old way of life.

The country offers a myriad of contrasts : Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon): modern, Western in style and somewhat flamboyant; aristocratic, imperial Hue, laid back Nha Trang and refined Ha Noi; tragic Cao Bang and Highway 4, serene Hoi An, beautiful and rugged Sapa.  Halong Bay and Mui Ne, both bathed by the waters of the South China Sea, have a distinct air of mystery: Halong Bay mesmerises visitors with its limescale giants, while the dunes of Mui Ne remind one of the Saharan landscape.

Vietnam has a long and rich history : a three thousand year old civilisation that has been influenced by aspects of Indian and Chinese cultures.  History will be omnipresent throughout your travels here.
